The usual meeting of the Koval Oak Lodge was held ou Monday night last, A.D. Bro. Jones presiding over a fair attendance of members. Business was quickly despatched, the mam item bciim the consideration of the balance shoot and auditor’s report. The balance sheet showed a satislactory increase in all funds, and was adopted after a brief discussion. The first of a scries of three nights’ euchre was then indulged in, and some keen and interesting games resulted. At the conchisioii ot play, Bros. HeiideiSon, V’. Hudson, Rondel, and Hinton had each won six games. The contest will be continued next meeting night. The Lily of the Valley Lodge, No. 11. U.A.0.D., met oil Wednesday night last in the Albany Street Hall, Arch Druid Bro. IT. Green presiding over a .rood attendance of officers and members An invitation to attend the next meeting of the Royal Arch Chapter on Tuesday, July 9, was received. I .A. Bro. 11. Winter and P.A. Bro. A, Al'Cutcheon were appointed delegates to the annual Social Committee to be held on Friday, July 5. Secretary Bro. A Watson was appointed to represent, the lodge cm the Booklet Committee. The A.D. bards reported favourably on side brethren, and sick pay amounting to £8 10 was passed for payment. One new candidate wftfe proposed for membership. It was decided to hold ladies’ night on Wednesday, July 24. The toast of the visitors was replied to by P. A. Bro. Richmond, of Seddon Lodge, West Coast, and P.A. Bro. Baird and J.F.A. Sister Baird, of West Harbour Lodges. Supper was handed round, and the lodge closed at an early hour, after which several of the brothers enjoyed a game of cards. At the last meeting of the Royal Arch Chapter, It.A.D. Bio. G. AVilson presided over a good attendance. Final arrangements w‘6re made for the lloss-Stewai't competition, to be held on Saturday, June 29. The correspondence disclosed that nine teams had entered. The secretary was instructed to notify all lodges that, at next chapter meeting, A.D. alid P.A. degrees wotild be conferred oil members so' desiring. G. President Bro. Hunt attended officially, and wqs cordially received, as also were several members of the order. Before a very appreciative audience Bro. Hunt addressed the meeting on very important and interesting matters dealing with the friendly societies throughout the dominion, and, in lighter vein, on backblock conditions and experiences in Australia. During a plenteous supper supplied by the stewards, members expressed their thanks and appreciation to Bro. Hunt for his interesting and educative address.

Linden’s Pride Juvenile Lodge presented an animated scene at its fortnightly meeting hold in the Oddfellows’ “Hall, Roslyn. Deputy Superintendent Bro. Manning was the host for the evening, and it was indeed a happy thought that inspired him to invito the well-known boys’ band from the Waverlcy Home. Such a night must go down as the best held in the history of Linden’s Pride. The band items, the individual solos, vocal and instrumental, raised the feelings of the lodge members to a high state of enthusiasm. While all the Items were brilliant, the palm must be given to the march 1 Invercargill ’ plftyed after supper, for it can bo truly said that in this they almost reached perfection. Conductor Whelan in response to the lodge’s hearty vote of thanks for the entertainment, expressed the appreciation of tlife hand at being able to bring joy to others. Music was a gift from God not for one’s self alone but to Share with others, and in sharing it with the Linden’s Pride his band, too, had obtained real pleasure- which, he trusted, would cement the friendships between himself, the band, and the lodge member's that had been made that night. Hearty cheers greeted the conclusion of his remarks.
