SUPPRESSION OF NAMES

ANOTHER MAGISTRATE DOUBTS PROPRIETY (Te« United Press Association.] PALMERSTON N., July 1. “ There are too many of these cases of suppression of names,” commented Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court when asked to suppress the name of a .man charged with using obscene language in a public place. “ I am inclined to agree with Mr E. C. Levvey. S.M., who issued a warning in Christchurch that he'might be forced to make a rigid rule that the names of accused persons will not be suppressed in any circumstances. In this case I am very doubtful if I am right in suppressing the name. Suppression is only a limited right, but people are asking for it in all sorts of cases.
