WRESTLING
GLENN WADE V. AL PEREIRA
The chief attraction of the wrestling season so far will take place in the Town Hair to-night when AI Pereira will meet Glenn Wade in a contest scheduled for eight ten-minute rounds. Many local enthusiasts have formed the opinion that Wade will again prove too good for the Portuguese, but they have probably not taken into consideration the fact that for some weeks after his arrival in tiro dominion at the end of April ho suffered from a throat affliction, which naturally prevented him doing the necessary training to ensure physical fitness, and for this reason was at a decided disadvantage in his only previous meeting with the Nebraskan. Pereira, fortunately, has completely recovered, and the steady improvement in Ids work, so noticeable over the pas:; three weeks, indicates that lie is nov in perfect physical condition. Wade- has yet to suffer defeat in New Zealand, and besides being remarkably strong is also very clever, so that Pereira will be set a big task to win, but as :t greatly depends upon las showing to-night whether or not he will bo in line for another match with the British Umpire champion, Earl M'Croady, patrons are assured that ho will give of bis very best. Four amateur preliminaries should also prove most entertaining. The association’s judges arc taking note of the work oi every boy, either winner or loser, as it has in view the awarding of the Rose and Cassily Cups at the end of the season. These who have not already reserved .seats vill be well advised to attend early.
