BUT ROADS NOW CLEAR The second Hood within a fortnigli at M'Nah, Waipahi, Waiwera. Kaihiku, and Manuka Gorge yesterday afternoon held up road traffic, but all roads were dear of water to-day.

The heavy rain yesterday caused a sharp rise in tiro creeks, which have been running at a high level since the downpour of J 3 days ago, and flooding occurred in the low-lying areas. The road to Lawrence was blocked at Olenore and in the Manuka Gorge. Heavy flooding also occurred on the Main South road, which was impassable, in several places. Water was across the road at Waiwcra and Knihnku, and some scouring was said to have taken place. Heavy flooding also occurred at Waipahi, where the water was reported to be the deepest experienced this year, and at !U‘Xah. In Dunedin very heavy rain 1011, lint the Leith was at no time in danger of overflowing.
