NO PERSONAL INTEREST
COUNCILLOR CLEARED [Per United Press Association.l WELLINGTON, June 28. A charge against Barton Ginger, a Customs agent and an ex-member of the Lower Hutt Borough Council, on the information of the Crown at the instance of tile Audit Department, that he was interested in the sa)e_ of a motor truck,-to the Borough Council, and that an attempt had been made deliberately to conceal the true nature of the transaction was dismissed by Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. The magistrate, after hearing the defence, said he had heard enough to dismiss the case on its merits. The attempt that had been made to suggest that certain entries were falsified was clearly unjustified. It w r as clear that the defendant had no personal interest in the transaction and was in no way interested in the truck except that he. was anxious to see that the council made a good deal.
