Huts for the employees have been purchased from the Public Works Department and a cottage provided for the manager. A water race has been constructed and a pipe line laid to the claim. Rails have been put down and trucks/purchased for the transport of ore. The air compressor and receiver and a 38 h.p. engine have been delivered, and concrete foundations have been prepared for this plant. Material is on hand for housing the compressor. " The labour entailed on these various works has necessarily resulted in less work being done in the drive. The adit level has, nevertheless, been advanced 103 ft to the south along the line of-the big lode formation, and a crosscut has been commenced at 100 ft: Samples for assay were not taken in the adit, but sampling will be carried out in the cross-cut. This level is approximately 75ft above _ the underground level, and the adit runs into “a hill which rises up fairly steeply some hundreds of feet from the mouth of the adit. The stone taken from the adit is highly mineralised, and the indications are that the big lode, which is exposed in an open cut on the surface for 150 ft to the north of_ the adit; continues south into the hill. The compressor will be in operation in about a week’s time, and better progress will then be made. The directors anticipate that the company will bo in active production in the spring, and by that time it is considered that sufficient ore will be developed to keep the plant in continuous operation.
