CROQUET
Caversham Club. • The annual meeting ol the Caversham Croquet Club was held in the club’s pavilion on Monday. Owing to the absence of the president (Mrs L. J. Allen), Mrs Melville presided over a good attendance, and moved the adoption of the report and balance-sheet. Mrs MelvilleViongratulated the club on its financial position, and on behalf of the president thanked members for then' assistance during her term of office. During afternoon tea the newlyelected president, in a happy speech, presented the secretary (Mrs M'Pherson) 'und the treasurer (Mrs Carrington) each with a dainty gift to mark the appreciation of members for their past services. Mention was also made of the services of Mr Gould in his efficient and untiring attention to the lawns. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year Patroness, Lady Sidey; president, Mrs A. Melville; vice-presidents, Mesdames Archer and’ Will; secretary, Mrs D. S. M'Pherson; treasurer, Mrs Carrington; captain, Mrs Will; deputy-captain, Mrs Newson; Match Committee —Mesdames Melville, Archer, Will, and Nowson; delegates to association. Mesdames Melville and Will; committee—Mesdames Anderson, Birt, Dempster, Kempthorne, Milne, and Simpson. Leith Club. The prizes won during the season were presented at a social held in conjunction with the bowling section of the club in the club’s pavilion on \\ cdnesday evening. Mr Johnson, club president, in welcoming visitors, said the club was honoured by the presence of the president and vice-president of the Croqugt Association, Mesdames Dalgliesb and Barry,, as well as those of the Bowling Centre. A happy hour was spent with musical and _ elocutionary items. Prior to the serving of supper the prizes were handed to the winners as follow:—Club champion: Mrs T. Coventry (Mrs Adamson’s prize); run-ner-np, Mrs E. Simpson. A handicap singles: Mrs E. Simpson (Mrs Laufenson’s prize); runners-up, Mrs T. Coventry and Mrs R. Sissons. B champion: Mrs H. Walker (Miss Millin’s prize); runner-up, Miss M. Steven. B handicap singles: Mrs D. Adamson (Mrs Forrester’s prize); runner-up, Mrs G. Nelson. Combined doubles: Mrs H. Walker and partner; runners-up, Mrs Forrester and Mrs K. Service. The president referred to the honour conferred on one of the Croquet Club members—Sister Nora. Dick—who was the recipient of a Jubilee medal. Punga Club. The anual meeting of the Punga Cloquet Club was held in the pavilion on Thursday, afternoon, the president (Miss J. Brown) being in the chair. An excellent report and balance-sheet were presented, the latler showing a good credit balance. In appreciation of the work of the greenkeeper (Mr Killen) during the past season a bonus was voted to him by the members. The following office-bearers were elected for the season 1935-36:—Presi-dent, Mrs J. M‘Don aid; vice-presidents —Mesdames H. J. Djxon, Haddock, Penrose. Miss J. Brown J and Messrs J. 1 M‘Donaid, R. D. Halstead, ryid Magnus Johnson; secretary. Miss Taylor; treasurer. Mrs J. Horn; cantain, Mrs H. J. Dixon; committee —Mesdames Halstead, Corbet, Myles. Buchler, Buckland. Rigby, and, Miss Adams ; delegates to Croquet Association Mesdames M‘Donald, Corbet, and Rigby.
