NEW SOUTH WALES RETURNS FOUR NEW SEATS TO LABOUR Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, May 16. A further checking of the State election returns to-day resulted in the Granville seat being x'etained by the Government candidate, but the Arncliffe seat was recaptured by the State Labour Party. The latter have now definitely won four seats. POBITIBN IK QUEENSLAND BRISBANE, May 16. The final returns for the Queensland election are still not available, but as the days go by the Government strengthens its position. It is reliably estimated that the final .state of the parties will be —Labour 46, Country-Progressive-National 16. Overtures have boon made in all States to Mr Forgan Smith, the Labour Premier, to enter Federal politics, with a view to leadership of tho Labour forces. Mr Smith so far has not cqmmented on the subject.
