PIGEON FLYING

The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew the longest race on the young bird programme on Saturday last. Favoured with a following wind, the birds put up a very fast fly, registering a velocity of almost one mile per minute. One hundred and thirty-two birds from 22 lofts were liberated at 8.44 a.m., and the winning bird timed in at 12.13, flying 202 miles in 3h 26min.
