PIGEON FLYING
The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew the longest race on the young bird programme on Saturday last. Favoured with a following wind, the birds put up a very fast fly, registering a velocity of almost one mile per minute. One hundred and thirty-two birds from 22 lofts were liberated at 8.44 a.m., and the winning bird timed in at 12.13, flying 202 miles in 3h 26min. The first five places are filled as follow (velocities given in yards per minute) J. Sconllar’s Playmate (1,724.5) 1. H. Millard’s Airway (1,723.9) 2, W. Cunningham’s Rimu (1,722.0) 3, T.
