ANZAC DAY SERVICE.

TO TUB EDITOR, Sir,— Kindly allow mo to bring before the notice of the authorities arranging the proceedings for Anzac Day what has been a serious oversight in the past. We stand and see the procesI sion on this day, and we sec ihe military dismiss at the back of the Town Hall, including numerous returned men, still doing their little bit. 1 have noticed these men after their dismissal walking home and not going into the Town Hall service. I asked one man with his ]9l4j 1915 star, etc., if he would not have liked to go into the Town Hall service. He replied that he would have diked to do so very much, but upon enquiring he was told that there were no vacant seats. Scats should he set aside not only for these returned men who are still serving, hut for their wives too, who would be proud to stand beside their husbands on this day. They cannot do this at the memorial, and it would lie a wonderful thing for a good many wiyes, and the men would keenly appreciate this token of thought. I would suggest that the keen committee now working on the programme for Anzac Day should get in'touch with the officers commanding the various naval and military units in this city and get from them a list of-returned’ men under their command who wish for a seat for'themselves and wife if necessary, for it is a shame to see these men left out of any of the proceedings of what must; be to them and theirs a holy day.—l am. etc., “ ‘Digger ’ Still Serving.” April: 12.
