SCATTERED SHOWERS The following weather forecast wa» issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern district—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— The anti-cyclone located yesterday over the Western Tasman Sea has moved eastwards, and pressure is rising over the dominion. It is still low, however, at the Chatham Islands. Forecast : Moderate to strong, but decreasing, south-westerly winds. Weather cloudy, and with scattered showers or misty rain at first, but improving. Temperatures cool. Sdas rough. FINE AND MILD LOCALLY. A return to more congenial weather followed the cessation of the unpleasant rain last night, this morning being mild and brighter, with the sun shining at intervals. The rainfall for the twenty-four hours ended 9 a.m. today was .Olin. and up to noon the maximum temperature was 58deg and the minimum reading of 51.7 deg. The wind was set south-west and the barometer had a rising tendency at 29.8 in. Yesterday’s temperatures were: Maximum, 59.9 deg., minimum, 47deg.
