IMPORTANT DISCOVERY ANNOUNCED NEW RADIO-ACTIVE SUBSTANCE . Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, March 30. Recounting his researches to the conference of the Institute of Physics, Dr ,T. D. t Crockcroft, of the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, announced that a radio-active podium had been produced which was equivalent to radium, and could be used in the same way. He added that it would be dangerous to be too optimistic, because its. adoption as a substitute would depend entirely on the cost of production. Professor Crowther declared that it was possible that in future these new radio-active substances would be produced and delivered at hospitals in vans.
