STILL ON HOLIDAY
LITTLE WORK ON BYRD SHIPS Having had a short respite, the members of the Byrd Expedition are slowly resuming work in preparation for sailing to the United States. • There was little sign of serious work on either the Jacob Ruppert or the Bear of Oakland to-day, little more than routine duties being carried out. A careful watch is being kept aboard the Ruppert to prevent dogs straying on to the ship. The Bear was to be moved alongside the Ruppert this afternoon,, vacating her berth for a mercantile ship. The loading of the cutter with about 300 tons of coal, will, however, be deferred. Great interest is being taken in the Jacob Rupert and its cargo by the public. Each afternoon the ship is throwii open to visitors. The men are enjoying their holiday and they speak highly of the hospitality being shown them by the citizens.
