STILL HOLIDAYING ARRANGEMENTS FOR DEPARTURE [Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 17. A further insight into New Zealand sheep farming methods was gained by His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester to-day, when he motored sixty miles from Longbeach to the holding of Sir. Hugh A eland at Mount Peel. His Royal Highness again interested himself in mustering and dipping, and returned to Longbeach tonight. The arrangements for the departure of the Duke from Lyttelton on Monday night at the conclusion of the official part of his New Zealand tour have been completed. The formalities will occupy nearly an hour. Farewell of most of the members of the New Zealand official party who accompanied the Duke on the tour will be taken hv His Royal Highness at the hotel at Christchurch, and the official farewells, in the reverse order to the procedure followed at the reception on the wharf at Wellington on December 15 last, will be carried out on the Lyttelton wharf. Those participating will ,be the mayor of Lyttelton, the chairman of the Harbour Board, the Under-secre-tary of the Department of Internal Affairs (Mr Malcolm Fraser), the Minister accompanying the official party (Hon. J. A. Young), the Minister of Finance (Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates), and the Prime Minister (Rfc. Hon. G, W. Forbes). The Duke of Gloucester will embark on H.M.A.S. Australia at 6.40 p.m., and, as the Royal Standard is broken from the cruiser’s masthead, the sloon Leith, from the anchorage outside the harbour, will tire the Royal salute.
The Governor-Genera] (Lord Bledisloe)- will arrive at 6.45 n.m.. and will take leave of His Royal Highness on board the cruiser, going ashore a quarter' of an hour later. At 7.15 the Australia will leave the wharf, dnd, as the cruiser passes the centre mole, the Royal salute will be fired bv the shore battery. The Duke’s visit to the far north is to be purely of a private character, and there will he n° public receotions. The visit to F>ir Hugh Aeland’s property at Mount Peel to-dny lasted Until late in the afternoon. His Roval Highness arriving hack at Longbeach at 6.30, He intends to spend to-mor-row with his host, Mr J. H. Grigg-, at the Longbeach estate.
