LABOUR PARTY
The monthly meeting of the Dunedin North branch was held on Thursday evening last, a large number of members attending and contributing to an interesting evening. Two resolutions were passed. A vigorous protest was entered against the action of the Australian Government in refusing permission to Mr Gerald Griffin to land and attend the No More War Conference. The new allocations for the cities were discussed, and it was decided to enter a strong protest against these allocations in so far as the men with family responsibilities are concerned. One class of worker is to lose Is Cd per week, this being a class least able to afford it—namely, four-day men with three children. At the conclusion of the business short addresses were given by Mrs S. C. MacArthur on the forthcoming children's party, Messrs W. G. Willetts, D. Gray, F. M. M'Leod. Dr D G. MtMillan, and Mr Mark Silverstone. After a light supper was served by the ladies the chairman wished all present the compliments oi the season.
