COMMITTEE'S REPORT TO COUNCIL • ■ ■ - The Electric Power and Lighting Committee will report as follows to Wednesday night’s meeting of the City Council TENDERS FOR REGULATORS. The committee recommends that the tender of the National Electrical and Engineering Co. Ltd. for the supply and delivery of three alternating current voltage regulators for use on a 6,600-volt three-phase circuit bo accepted. ■ Nine tenders were received, and the tender recommended is the lowest and is for plant of entirely British manufacture. NEW MOTOR VEHICLES. Authority has been granted to invite tenders by public advertisement for the supply of two motor cars to replace departmental vehicles which have now reached the end of their economic life. The cost of the new cars will be a charge on the renewal fund. WAIPORI PRESSURE TUNNEL. The report of the consulting engineers on the progress of _the_ works in connection with the Waipori pressure tunnel contract states that the contractors have now thirty-four men employed on the various sections of the work. The tunnel was driven a further 57ft during the period, bringing the total length of excavation now completed to 960 ft. The rock is still very hard and compact, with no water. Work, at tho surge tank and other sectional_ operations are proceeding, satisfactorily. ‘ ,
