Following the announcement that the Treasury had decided to increase the amount of annual redemptions of 3 per cent. Treasury bonds from 10 to 40 per cent., there was a fresh burst of strength in British Government stocks to-day. The total issue in 1932 of these Treasury bonds was £110,000,000, and the prospectus provided for annua] drawings of not less than 10 per cent. It is understood, however, that the reduction could be accelerated, and it was announced that the Treasury bad decided to repay on April 15 £444,000,000 of bonds. Gilt-edged securities opened buoyantly, and quickly established fresh high records. War loan, 34 per cent., after going to £lO7 10s, dropped to £lO7 -s 6d. Consols (24 per cents.) were quoted at £9O, and other Government stocks and locql loans changed hands freely at higher prices, India stocks continue strong, notably 24 per cent, at £79. The lists in connection with the issue of £500,000 3 per cent. Wakefield Corpotation, stock at £9B 15s closed within ■five minutes. NEW GUINEA GOLD SHARES.
