SEARCH Of TARARUAS [Fib United Pkess Association.] WELLINGTON, May 20, A party of searchers in the Tararua ranges to-day found the dead body' of the missing trapper, Alfred Young, aged twenty-two, near the Cone. “The party, which was equipped with a portable radio apparatus, communicated with the Wellington police, and several members of the force immediately loft to examine the body. The party of sixteen will stay out all night and to-morrow morning will take the body to Cone Hut, about two hours’ journey from where it was discovered. A small party will leave Greytown to-morrow with two packhorses, and proceed to Cone Hut to bring the body to Woodside, near Grcytown, where it is expected to arrive late in the afternoon. The Cone is a peak of 3,54711 on the saddle between Mount Hcctoi and .Mount Reeves. The ridge lies between the Waiohine and the Tauherenikaii watersheds. The, country is difficult for searchers, and the party which set out on Saturday bad very meagre information. [lt was reported towards the end of last week that anxiety was felt for the safety of Mr Young, of Ghnznee street, Wellington, who had arranged to meet friends at Kaitoke on May 9, after a tramp through the rough country on the Tararua Ranges about the Waiohine Ranges and Tauherenikau Valievs, but had not since been heard of. yfr Young, who was twenty-two years of age, and was said to be an experienced framper, set out on April 26 with the intention of going over grounds for which lie had a trapping license. He had sufficient food for fourteen days, but concern for his safety was intensified by reason of the recent bad weather and a fall of snow in the Tararuas.
