THE RUNNING OF ORAPAI
[Per Uxitbd Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 14. Advice has been received from the secretary of the Egmont Racing Club that at the conclusion of the second day of the Hawora races the Judicial Committee of the Egmont Racing Club held an inquiry into the running of the horse Orapai, and took certain evidence. At a meeting of the committee to-night the inquiry was concluded, but no further evidence was taken. However, the following resolution was passed;—“ After hearing the evidence of the owner-trainer (J. O’Neill) and the rider (R. Reed), we decide that O’Neill be exonerated, but view the riding of the horse with grave suspicion. But on the evidence before ns, we decide to take no further action.”
