ST. KILDA QUEEN CARNIVAL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE Mr R. Thompson presided last night over a well-attended meeting of the General Committee of tho St. Kilda queen carnival, which is proceeding with the object of raising funds for beach improvement purposes. Correspondence from the queen committees was received, also a letter from the St. Kilda Borough Council granting the use of a room at the Town Hall for the purpose of holding the weekly committee meetings. Mr J. R. Dove wrote tendering his resignation as a member of the executive.—The resignation was accepted with regret, and Mr M. Quirk was appointed to the vacancy on the executive. . „ After some discussion concerning the composition of the General Committee, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr D. Lister, seconded by Mr Cole, that the committee consist of four representatives from each of the queen committees added to the existing (preliminary) committee. The organiser having reported progress, Mr E H. Ombler impressed upon tho delegates present the urgent necessity for each committee to furnish tho organiser with details of, its activities so that these might be noted and reported. The secretary reported that arrangements were now being made for displaying over the Town Hall the flags indicating the state of the poll in connection with the voting for queen.
