Consent was heaten at the straight entrance, whore Million was challenged by a hunch. Million held on to win hy a bead from Pahu. with Esteem only a neck back, and Chief Line and Don Erma close tip. Pheon drew clear at the straight entrance, and seemed a winner till a trio came up from the rear, Moatoa getting home by a bead in a sparkling finish, with Chief Marionette only a head in front of Cawbeen, and Pheon next. Manuiri was well up till the stands double, where he fell, losing his rider. Riotous and Brown Abev then opened up a big break down the back on Bon Aryan and Sir Musk. The Tiger was in front at the. end of a furlong, and led Cullus, Orapai, aud Royal Bengal into the straight. Orapai drew out to beat the challenging British Columbia by half a bend. Round Table was first to show out, loading Ruri and Prince Colossus in the early stages. Ruri went ahead down the back and was joined across the top hy Chopin. Prince Colossus came again and finished a neck behind Ruri, with Chopin a length and a-half away, with Alloy next. Time, 2min lOsec. TAWHiTI HANDICAP, lOOsovs. 7f. 7-7 —TRES SEC, 7.5’ (J. Leach) ... 1 2- —Silk Sox, 7.4 (G. Duncan) ... 2 4-4—Gay Court, 8.9 (H. Goldfinch) 3 Also started; 1-1 St. Clara 8.3. 9-8 Tea Garden 7.11. 8-9 Bugle Call 7.8, 3- Head Mistress 7.3, 10-10 Freeze 7.2, 6-5 Lady Ronald 7.2, 5-6 Prince Reno 7.0. Head Mistress, Prince Reno, Gay Court, and Silk Sox were the leading hunch clown the back.
