Sir Hubert Wilkins came to Dunedin from Invercargill by train this morning and went on for Oamaru', where he is to give the final lecture of his tour to-night. To-morrow morning he visits the Elderslie stud farm, then goes north to embark at on tho Monterey for America. He is planning to return to New Zealand about August 15 by the-steamer Akaroa. Mr J. Armstead, now of Auckland,, left Dunedin for the north this morning. Mr E. D. Duthie travelled to Invercargill to-day on business. A Wellington Press Association telegram states that Mr Stanley Bruce, High Comminsioner for Australia, is a passenger by the Monterey,' which sailed from Sydney to-day for Auckland. ' Sympathetic reference was made at the-’meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club yesterday to the death of Mr E. H. Lough. The deceased was for twenty-two years a mem- ' ber of the committee, and for many i years was treasurer of the club. , The secretary was instructed to convey the club’s sympathy to the relatives. Latest arrivals at the City Hotel are Mr and Mrs R. A. Newton (Mexico),. Mr E. G. Percival (London), Messrs G. Borman and E. Bateman (Auckland), Mr and Mrs R. Orr (Lower Hutt), Mr C. A.
