The results of the 133 competition for His Majesty’s trophy and the Imperial challenge shields for miniature rifle shooting by boys of the Empire have been received by the Defence Department from England., Canada, with an average of 83.971, is first in the King s Trophv; South Africa, with 79.926, is second; Britain, with 73.634, is third; and New Zealand, with 71.621, is fourth. . , „ The New Zealand section of the Empire honours list for the trophy presented by Earl Jellicoe is headed by the Rotorua High School, with a total of 91.947, and the following gained distinction St. Patrick’s College, Silverstreaui, 89.412; Cathedral Grammar School, Christchurch, 82.05; Boys’ High School, Christchurch, 81.539; Wanganui Collegiate School, 81.45; Waitaki Boys’ High School, 79.893. ARTHUR BARNETT'S CLUB The interest that still continues in miniature rifle shooting since its inception a few years ago was made manifest on Thursday evening last, when the members of Arthur Barnett’s Club met at the Drill Hall rifle range to officially open tlie season. The president, Mr Pollock, in his opening remarks welcomed the members, and visitors. The immediate past president, Mr Spence, was invited to fire the first shot (a “ bull ”). The members then entered into keen shooting competitions, some of the best cards being R. Graham 78, G. Ferguson 78, I. Pollock 78, Miss Dever 77, Miss Watcrson 76, •). Armstrong 77, J. Supper ami a dance brought a successful and enjoyable evening to a close.
