Henri Yoix, the last of Stavisky’s associates to see him alive, has been arrested and charged with complicity. TENSE MOMENT AT INQUIRY PARIS, March 10. There was a dramatic moment during M. Daladier’s evidence before the Parliamentary Commission when he was suddenly confronted by M. Chiappe, who repeated his statement about M. Frot. M. Daladier interrupted to say his impression was that M. Profs action was political. M. Cbiappe jumped to bis feet and said: “I still see yon sitting at your desk taking notes, and I still hear you say ‘ Frot is intriguing outside.’ ” “ Any plot to overthrow the Govern monfc was organised by M. Frot,” said M. Chiappe (former Chief of Police), in giving evidence before the Riots Commission. He added that ho had warned M. Daladier that M. Frot was trying to organise an army of ox-Com-munists, Socialists, and ex-Royalists, and on the eve of the disturbance he had vainly attempted to get the support of Colonel Laroqnc, leader of the Croix do Feu. He had also warned M. Daladier that a wealthy member of the Cabinet had been asked to finance the Extreme Left forces, but on M. Chiappe’s advice ho had refused. M. Chiappe added that the Royalist and later the Left and Right papers had incited the public to join the rioters, but plans had been prepared for the peaceful defence of the Chamber, He paid a tribute to the Republican loyalty of the police, who were a healthy, disciplined, and courageous body, adding: “I think if I had been present on February (1 France would uot have had to weep for these dead.'’
