Skelton, of South Kensington, pleaded not guilty to three charges laid by Archibald M'Neill, stableman for J. T. Jamieson, and trainer in charge of the £3,000 racing filly Myra Tip—that he used insulting words, drove in a manner dangerous to the public, and backed his car unduly. M‘Neill said Skelton drove past him and his charges, Myra Tip and another, at forty miles an hour. Witness called out, and Skelton backed towards him, asking if ho wanted all the road. Myra Tip was frightened, and swerved round. Skelton then drove his car back at witness, threatening to kill his horse for him. Skelton kept backing and going ahead till Myra Tip was thoroughly scared She eventually slipped down on her hocks, and witness was in danger of being injured. Jack Hall, a groom, said Skelton drove at Myra Tip, trying to injure her. Skelton gave evidence that M'Neill jerked the mare’s head, causing her to slip on her hocks. The case is not finished. SKELTON CONVICTED SYDNEY, February 27. (Received February 27, at 10.15 a.m.) The trainer Skelton was convicted on charges of driving in a dangerous manner and using insulting words. On the first count a fine of £lO was imposed, with £5. 7s costs, and his motor license was cancelled for six months. On the second charge he was fined £5, with 8s costs.
