ON THE UP GRADE
BRITISH TRADE m ohambebiain's statement (British Official Wireless.) Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. RUGBY, February 26. (Received February 27, at noon.) Speaking at a luncheon at the Birmingham section of the British Industries Fair, Mr Neville Chamberlain said that from all directions there werb indications that trade recovery in Britain was firmly on the up grade. There was a general revival of confidence, and people felt that they could safely fill up stocks and expand plant and equipment. They felt that recovery had come to stay. Although Britain had given preference to the Empire, she wished other countries to know that if they bought more from Britain she would buy more from them.
The Chairman of Lloyd’s Bank (Mr Beaumont Pease) also spoke, advocating extending the use of bills of exchange.
