AUSTRIA’S PROBLEMS

RUMOURS AND REPORTS THE ISSUES CLOUDED Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON. February 26. The ‘ Daily Mail’s ’ Vienna correspondent suggests that Austria is beginning negotiations for an agreement with Germany. Dr Dollfuss denies reports of dissensions with Major Fey, and refuses to discuss them. Major Fey and Prince Starhemberg insist that Herr Habicht shall not participate in the negotiations. The Austrian frontier garrisons are reported to have been reinforced. Archduke Anton, of the House of Hapsburg, has flown to Upper Austria to offer his services as courier in connection with the reported negotiations, while another report hints that the Heimwehr will march on Vienna and seize the reins of Government. Yet another quotes Prince Starhemberg as saying that Austria’s only possibilities are an anschluss or co-operation under the segis of Italy. He opposes union with Germany.
