ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
PPVTAL BURNS. The death occured in the Wanganui Hospital yesterday afternoon of Muriel Larking, a woman, 38 years of age, of Wanganui East, who was admitted the previous night suffering from serious burns after her night attire had caught lire. GRAVEL PIT FATALITY. A middle-aged farmer, Thomas Brazier, residing at Rakauhauka, was killed while working in Lanning’s gravel pit at Grove Bush (Southland), where, without warning, part of the face fell upon him. Although he was not com-pletely-buried, but only hit by the fall, it appears that he was killed almost instantaneously. ROADMAN DROWNED. J. Boy Blake, aged about 40 years, while working on the road near Mangaweka; was struck on the head by a piece of papa in a fall of rock ana knocked into the Rangitikei River and .drowned. Len Moyle, a workmate, dived into the flooded river, but was unable to recover the body.
