The Rev. Father M'Grath, sou of cxPolicc Superintendent M'Grath, has been on a business visit to Dunedin, and left on his return journey to Auckland this morning. Mr J. 11. Templin returned from Dunedin to Christchurch by train today. The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne, Archbishop Maunix, will arrive in Auckland by the Mariposa tomorrow on his way to attend the diamond jubilee celebrations of Archbishop Redwood, which will he held in Wellington at the end of the month. He will be accompanied by the Rev. R. J. Murphy, rector of Newman College, University of Melbourne. Archbishop Mannix was last in New Zealand in 1924 in connection with Archbishop Redwood’s golden jubilee. It is expected that he will stay in Auckland for two or three days, during which time he will be the guest of Bishop Liston. At Wednesday night’s meeting of the City Council the Finance Committee will recommend that the Mayor, (the Rev. E. T. Cox) and the chairman of the Works Committee (Cr .1.J. Marlow) be appointed the council’s delegates to the municipal conference of New Zealand, to be held in the Town Hall, Wellington, on March 14.' O’Neill (Palmerston), Mr and Mrs C. Here (Patearoa), Miss M. Corcoran (Waikaka), Mr W. M'Leod (Mandeville), and Mrs T. Marshall (Invercargill).
