LAV!HA AND IRENE COLLIDE HO DECISION PENDING INQUIRY [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, February 8. In the fourth race for the Sanders Cup, Canterbury and Wellington finished a dead heat, first, but a protest was entered alleging fouling, and the committee is now considering. The judges took action, and are holding an inquiry on the collision between Lavina and Irene. They collided when running level only a few yards from the finishing post, and Lavina actually finished first by ssec. Until this inquiry is finished no decision will bo made concerning a further race.
