SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Exciting swimming should be seen at the Otago senior championship carnival at the Municipal Baths to-night, entries for the championship events being larger than usual, while the handicaps have drawn very large entries. Added interest is being given to the championship events by the, entry into senior competition of a number of intermediate stars, including J. D. O’Driscoll and W. .). Jarvis. S. W. Jarvis will be seen in action in both the 100yds and 220yds championships, as this does not affect his status as an intermediate. Others who will be competing in these events include G.-Field, J. 0. Byrnes, and 11. Nuttall. A good field is expected to line up for the 150yds men’s back-stroke championship, including Peter Mathieson, B. Kerr, A. Ayilliams, J. D. O’Driscoll, W. J. Jarvis, A. Thomas, and P. W. Harkess. The life-saving championship should be an interesting event, and the ladies’ 100yds championship has drawn a larger entry than usual.
