DUHEOiN STOCK EXCHANGE A greatly improved tone was apparent on the market this morning, sales being effected, in, a wide range of stocks. New' Zealands recorded a noticeable advancement in the banking section, buyers offering 50s, with no seller under 51s. £.S. and A.s had business at 116 s, the market prices closing Is either way. Shipping shares remained strong, -and Union Steam Ships showed further improvement. - Kaitangata Coals arc in persistent demand ’at 21s, but ■ sellers appear scarce. Wcstports have also been revealing a hardening tendency. Meat preserving. shares maintained their recent rises, and all continued in good demand. In the miscellaneous section M’Leod Bros, were wanted at 1 £2B, but sellers were not attracted by this improved offer. There, was a better tone in the gold mining market. Waihis jumped up 9d on yesterday's buying quote, Okaritos had a buyer and no seller, King Solomons gained still further, as also did Consolidated Goldfields, Blackwaters, and Addison’s Flats.
