The draw for the Davis Cup, which took place in England .yesterday for the first time in twenty-one years, was made at the. India Office by’ Sir Samuel Hoare, Secretary for India, who is president of the Lawn Tennis Association. Diplomatic and other representatives ot fifteen nations which will this year challenge Britain for the cup were present.- The draw for the European zone placed France, Germany, Australia,, and Japan, four of the strongest countries, close together in the bottom half.

QUIST BEATS PERRY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. ADELAIDE. February 5. In the test match between Australia and England the matches resulted : Lee beat Crawford, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5. Quist beat Perry, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. Hughes and Perry beat Turnbull and (Joist, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. Crawford and Hopman beat Lee and Wilde. 6-3. 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Australia: Seven rubbers, 21 sets. Britain: Five rubbers, 17 sets. There was another flattering attendance. Quist defeated Perry after losing the first set. Quist’s accurate placing thex'eafter frustrated the Englishman’s attempt to slow up the play. Perry lacked concentration, and his usual devastating serves were absent. Quist fought grimly. Lee and Crawford started erratically, out the standard improved. Lee’s terrific forehand driving and volleying were outstanding. Perry said- “Quist has improved in a marked manner. I have always maintained that he is one to watch. He was too good for me here.”
