BOXING IN AMERICA
“ GAME IN A SAD STATE " [Pia Unitsd Prkbs Association.] WELLINGTON, February 5. “The light game in the United States is in a very bad state, and they have brought it about themselves by bad management,” said Mr Charles Lucas, of Sydney, who, with a team of eight boxers from America, is a through passenger by the Maunganni. “ In my opinion, putting the dollar before the game has brought about the position existing to-day,” Mr Lucas said. “ The ‘ no foul ’ rule adopted in America was the greatest thing ever done for boxing. The boxers wear protective shields, and it is claimed that no injuries can be received from low blows.”
