PROFESSIONAL CYCLING

SPORTS MEETING A mixed sports meeting was held by the Otago Athletic and Cycling Club at the Caledonian Ground last evening, in the presence of a small attendance of spectators. Except for a north-east breeze, which handicapped the performers, the conditions were ideal. The half-mile handicap race was the best of the evening, the three first riders being level to within ten yards of the tape, Hay just managing to get up to win by a narrow margin. Besults:— CYCLING. Kennedy (50yds) 2, J. Milligan (80yds) 3. Six started. AA’on by three-quarters of a length. AA'ilson-Pyne took the lead from the start and maintained it for the greater part of the race, but coming down the straight Scott passed him with a well-judged spurt to win by half a length, a length and a-half between second and third.
