His Honour Mr Justice Kennedy went by train to, Timaru to-day to preside at the Supreme Court session. Mr H. L. Anderson left by the 11.35 train to-day, returning to his home at Petone.

Mr. C. do R. Andrews is on his way to Wellington to attend a meeting of the Public Service Appeal Board. Sir John MacFarland, Chancellor of the Melbourne University, ended his visit to Otago and Southland _ to-day.; He came over mainly to enjoy the angling, of which he had experience in previous years. Mr T. M. Ball, district engineer. Public Works Department, returned to Dunedin on Monday night after a comprehensive tour of Otago with the Main Highways Board that was undertaken with the purpose of getting hot® closer touch with the local bodies. Mr and Mrs William Gray, of Mel-* bourne, who came across by the Monowai, began their return journey this morning, leaving by the 11.35 train. The guest list at the Grand Hotel contains the following new names: — Lady Bourne and Miss Pamela Bourne (South Africa), Messrs D. Halley and A. Leslie Wall (Wellington), Captain Mercer / (Christchurch), and Mr R. Beauchqp (Invercargill). City Hotel guests: Mrs M, Cameron (Wellington), Mr W. Beard (Kaitaia),; Mr and Mrs J. Muir (Timaru), Mr S. W. M‘Caw (Hakataramea), Sirs V. Spain (Alexandra), and Mr and Mr* T. Strang (Invercargill).
