The Federal Emergency Relief Admiinstrator (Mr Hopkins) states that the Administration is ready to invest 100.000,000 dollars in the transportation of 1,000,000 permanently unemployed and their families, now living m poverty in the coalfields and some of the large cities, to new rural self-sus-taining communities. The N.R.A. had already appropriated 26,000,000 dollars for subsistence and homesteads. Mr Hopkins explained that this was merely one step in a long-range programme dealing with unemployment.
