AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS ANDREWS BEATS MALFROY. [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, January 29. The Auckland championships' were continued to-day in fine weather. A large anniversary holiday crowd was present. E. D. Andrews, the ex-New Zealand champion, now of England, played up to his best form to defeat C. E. Malfroy, the present dominion champion, in the final ot the Men’s Singles, 6-0, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. In the Ladies’ Singles final Miss D. Nicholls (Wellington) proved too good all round for Miss Marjorie Macfarlane (Auckland), winning in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. Andrews and N. G. Sturt (Auckland) defeated the title-holders ,E. L. Bartleet (Auckland) and Malfroy in the final of the Men’s Doubles. The winners’ combination was good and their understanding, combined with consistently fine all-round play, enabled them to score a clear-cut victory 6-4, 6-3, 6-2. Misses N. Beverley (Matainata and D. Nicholls w r on the Ladies’ Doubles, defeating Misses J. Ramsay and Newton (Auckland) 6-3, 6-1. The semi-final of the Combined Doubles will be decided to-morrow-.
