—Ministerial.— The Minister of Public Works (Hon. J. Bitchener) is at present at his home at Waimate. During his stay in South Canterbury this week he will visit road ivories in the Mackenzie County and the Waitaki Hydro Electric Works. On Thursday he will lay the foundation stone of a new public hall at Ivurow,returning to the north on Friday. Bishop Whyte returned yesterday, afternoon from Christchurch, where he attended the annual conference of Catholic teachers. Mr W. Taylor, manager Ivcmpthorne and Prosser’s Drug Company, travelled by train to Christchurch to-day. Mr R. B. Tennent, fields superintendent, Agricultural Department, left by the 11.35 train this morning to reach Palmerston North to-morrow. ' Mr John Murray, principal of the Boys’ High School at Palmerston North, started this morning on his journey back from Dunedin. Mr Charles Todd left this morning on his return to Wellington. Mr J. Grant, of Victoria road, St,’ Kilda, has received word that his son, Mr Lewis Grant, has passed his final degree for JVI.Com. He received his secondary education at Otago Boys’* High School and obtained his_ accountancy B.Com. and M.Com. while studying at Victoria College, Wellington.. The Governor of Fiji, Sh* Murchison Fletcher, arrived at Wellington this morning from Auckland to discuss certain trade and other matters with members of the Government. He was niet at the station by the Prime Minister.’ To-morrow he will confer with members of the Government in regard _ to the banana trade and medical services.
