PROMINENT EDUCATIONALIST . —— i A Dannevirke Association message records the death - of Mr George Harvey, who was for twenty-four years headmaster of the Dannevirke South School. He retired on superannuation in 1924. Prior to that he was the mainstay of the Teachers’ Institute of Southern Hawke’s Bay, being secretary and chairman for many years.

LONDON, January 29. The former. New Zealander, Mil Spencer H. Gollan, was run over by a' motor bus in Oxford street to-day and killed. Mr Gollan, who was born in Mangatarata, Auckland, was educated in New Zealand, Switzerland, and Cambridge, and was a very prominent athlete, having won events ,in rowing* sculling, running, swimming, boxing* golf (including two New Zealand amateur championships), and other sports* He was also successful as a racehorse owner, and won the Grand National Steeples with the New Zealand horsai Moifaa.
