The engagement would continue for about eight months.Commander Evangeline Booth Vas given an enthusiastic send-off at meetings held in the Centennial Memorial Temple, New York, prior to starting on her _ campaign in New Zealand, Australia, and India. The commander is due to arrive at Auckland on February 23, and will speak at three meetings there. She will then attend the congress gatherings at Wellington from February 28 to March 5. She will be in Christchurch from March 9 to March 12, and in Dunedin on March 13.

The diploma of Associate of the Royal College of Organists, the bestowal of which on Miss Jean C. Begg, of Roslyn,was reported in Saturday’s ‘ Star,’ is the second highest honour that can be attained by ah organist. Miss Begg began her study of music as a piano pupil under Mr W. Paget Gale, and after gaining the L.A.8., commenced to learn organ playing, in due course qualifying to assist her tutor, Mr Gale,, at Knox Church. One of the London' professors with whom she studied has stated that she is the only student from overseas whose, work he has not had N to undo in some degree. Subject to correction, the belief is held that Miss Begg is the only New Zealand lady to • gain the A.R.C.O. diploma. A Wanganui Association message states that at the'Turakina Caledonian Society’s annual sports on Saturday* Piper Murdoch M’Kenzie (Mastcrton)j won the North Island championship for pibrochs. A. Guild (Blenheim) won the other open piping events. A Press Association cable message from London states that Miss Elsie Murphy, of Wellington, was married to Wally Kilminster, the dirt track rider.
