GERMAN STORM TROOPERS

FRENZIED SCENES IN COURT FREE FIGHT WITH POLICE PrMs Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. BERLIN, January 26. Tho Storm Troopers’ protests at the sentences imposed on fifty-one Communists for the murder of a Storm Trooper and a police sergeant on January 30. 1933, developed into scenes unparalleled in tne history of the German courts. When the sentences began with terms of seven years Brown Shirts shouted “Shameful” and Down with the judge!” Ihe climax came iyhen the leader, addressing tho judge, yelled: “We want justice for murderers! The verdict is shameful!” The judge ordered the officials to clear the galleries, but the Brown Shirts resisted, resulting in a free fight with the police until they were ejected. The judge suspended the sentences for an hour, in which the Brown Shirts vigorously protested to the Prussian Minister of Justice. Subsequently, when the court resumed, the State Secretary (Dr Freisler) appeared in the court, and, ignoring the judge, addressed the Storm Troops to the following effect:— “ Let-us hear the court’s’decision, hut the Minister will examine the case, and any future action will rest with his decision.”' The judge then finished imposing the sentences. . RETRIAL PROBABLE. BERLIN, January 28. (Received January 29, at 10 a.ui.) The Public Prosecutor has appealed against the sentences imposed on the Communists, presumably on account of their mildness. All will probably bo tried again.
