CRICKET IN SOUTH OTAGO

The final in the South Otago shield competition was commenced at Kaitangata on Saturday, but, owing to the heavy nature of the playing area, the game was not completed. The contesting teams were Milton and Balclutha, winners of the northern and southern’ sections. Balclutha batted first, and declared its innings closed with eight wickets down , for 225 runs. The chief scorers were: Henderson (93), Gold (67), Boddington (33), Baxter (21). The Milton bowlers were; H. Heads (two for 23). Hawke (two for 40). and M’Donald (two for 64). Milton'"then commenced its innings, and stumps were drawn shortly after, with 16 runs for no wickets. W. Heads made 10 not out.
