TO-DAY'S RECIPE
Each Saturday a recipe or hint will bo published in this space, specially recommended by the Home Science Extension Bureau Service. WHOLEMEAL BGONES f (All measures level.) Whole meal, two cups. Fat, two tablespoons. Sugar or treacle, one tablespoon. Salt, one teaspoon. Baking powder, five teaspoons. Milk, three-quarter cup. 1 Fat may he butter or dripping. Sift flour and baking powder, add sugar, cut in shortening. Sprinkle liquid into the flour and mix quickly. Toss and roll lightly on a floured board to one-third inch to '.half-inch thickness. Cut and hake for ten to fifteen minutes in a hot oven of 450 deg F.. Note.—lf treacle or golden syrup is used, mix with the milk before adding to the flour. Alternative Recipe. One cup white flour. , One cup brown flour. , Four teaspoons baking powder. ! Half-teaspoon salt. Milk, three-quarter cup. Method as above.
