THE GOVERNMENT S PROGRAMME RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF INDUSTRIES press Assertion—By Telegraph—Copyright. DUBLIN, January 23. Mr Sean F. Lemass (Minister for 'lndustry and Commerce), outlining the . Government’s industrial programme for 1934, said it was hoped that within a year the country’s full requirements of cotton piece goods would be woven from yarn spun in the Free State. It was hoped also to re-establish the glass industry at Waterford, and the pottery, cutlery, and rubber goods industries elsewhere. The experimental production of alcohol from potatoes and the establishment of refineries for the extraction of petrol and other products from crude oil were also contemplated, thus securing independence from foreign fuel sources. .
