BURNS ANNIVERSARY
The anniversary of the birth of Kobert Burns, Scotland’s national poet, is to bo again celebrated at His Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday evening. The world over this event will bo celebrated wherever Scotsmen gather, but by none so fervently as those who find themselves away from their native heather. Burns in his short lifetime left to tho world poetical works which have endeared him to all Scottish hearts. The Dunedin Burns Cub will do honour to his name on this occasion by arranging a programme worthy of tho occasion. Mr J. B. Thomson, elocutionist, of Wellington, will delight in his Burns item, while Misses Mary Pratt, Alva Myers, Noni Davidson, Messrs Arthur Macdonald, and Alfred Walmsley will be heard to advantage in the vocal gems. An instrumental trio in Miss Eva Judd, Mrs T. J. Kirk-Burnnand, and Mr Lloyd Hunter will render lilting music. Variety will be lent by items by Miss Wheeler’s reel party, Dunedin Pipe Band, and Burns Club Choir. Tho box plan arrangements are advertised.
