CENTRAL MISSION

QUARTERLY MEETING ■ Over thirty members of the Central Mission Quarterly Board met in Slade Hall on Wednesday evening. The Rev, G. H. Goodman, acting, missioner, conducted the business. Appreciations of Mr Goodman’s influence as pastor and preacher ' during the Rev. L. B. Neale’s absence was sincerely expressed, and a special vote was recorded. Sympathy with the superintendent of the mission during his enforced surgical treatment was combined with congratulationary remarks regarding his present convalescence, and also in connection with the completion of his batchelor of arts university degree. The news of the recent passing over, of one of the oldest members of the mission, Mr Riley, was received, and respect was shown by a period of silence. The local Y.P. secretary read an encouraging summary of the youth departments of the mission. The agent of the ‘ Methodist Times ’ reported that all subscriptions were paid, and the activities of the Home and Foreign Mission Committees were discussed by each secretary respectively. i Sister Hazel was welcomed back from her holidays, and Sister Lenna reported briefly on the health camps conducted since early December and continuing until the end of January at the Mission Home, Company Bay. Though considerably on the debit side the circuit, balance-sheet showed that encouraging progress had been made bn the last quarter’s report. Last year’s circuit stewards—-Mr H. H. Johnson and My W. "Aitken—were reappointed with no further nomination.

Wellington is the centre in which the annual conference will be held next February. Mr H. H. Johnson was appointed lay representative from the mission, f with '•■ Mrs Coulter as substitute. ■,,
