It is stated that the tenders submitted were on a lower basis than the 1933 contract price. However, the companies were informed recently by a representative of the department that no tender would be , accepted, and it had been decided to distribute the contract equally between the companies. The department, it is understood, offered to pay at the previous year’s price, which proposition was attractive to the companies.
