ST. KILDA BAND

The St. Kilda Band will give another of its popular promenade concerts at the St. Kilda beach to-morrow evening, at 8. It will interest music lovers to know that the test pieces chosen for the contest will be played. The pieces are ‘ Prometheus Unbound,’ by Granville Bantock, and ‘Princess Nada,’ by Dennis Wright. The former selection was the recent Crystal Palace test, and the latter was the piece chosen for tho Bellevue championships. The band, under the conductorship of Mr Jas. Dixon, has been practising very steadily in view of the New Zealand championship contest at Wellington next month. Mr Dixon has under his baton a very good all-round combination, no fewer than fivo players being present New Zealand champion soloists, and there is every prospect of this band again giving a very good account of itself next month. In view of the expense involved in taking the band away, a liberal collection towards tho funds is solicited.
