Crop and property damage amounting to 100,000,000 dollars and a death roll of fifty to sixty are estimated following floods that roared over South America’s low-lands in the past few days. The eastern coast is gripped by swirling waters from the swollen rivers, but the danger to lives is believed to have passed. In Argentina and Brazil hardship and suffering are widespread. The bodies of twenty-three people who were drowned in Argentina have been recovered and there is a possibility that the total may reach forty. According to reports Mendoza had ten deaths and Brazil eight.
